Toddler Activities in White Plains, New York

Located in Westchester County near the Hudson River and Long Island Sound is the city of White Plains, New York. It is in the bottom right corner of New York. A 2000 U.S. Census showed that its population was 53,077. There are parks, libraries and businesses in the area that help keep toddlers active.
  1. White Plains Public Library

    • Sitting and listening intently to a captivating tale is something that you can do with a toddler at the public library. The White Plains Public Library (whiteplainslibrary.org) has a special area for little ones called "The Trove." The library says that "this area combines a library with a bookstore feel to it with the stimulation typically found in a children's museum." The library offers puppet shows, movies, music and dance performances, book discussions, craft projects, play time with blocks and other things, singalongs and storytime.

    White Plains Parks

      Playing in a park or swimming in a pool provide recreation for people of all ages. White Plains has three parks that also have pools that are open during the summer (late June to late August). The pools are located in Gardella Park, Kittrel Park and Saxon Woods Park, and are free to White Plains residents. Gardella and Kittrel both have playgrounds. Saxon Woods has a mini-golf course. Chatterton Playground and Gillie Park both offer play equipment for toddlers.

    Playland

    • Enjoying an amusement park can bring joy to toddlers. Playland (westchestergov.com) is in Rye, New York, on Long Island Sound, approximately 12 miles from White Plains. There are many things to do there, especially Kiddyland, an area just for little ones. There are minimum height restrictions for rides, but they can ride with a parent if they don't meet the requirement. They also offer mini-golf, a pool and beach area, a boardwalk, an arcade, a boating lak and indoor ice skating.

    Renaissance Plaza

    • Mesmerizing water fountains can keep toddlers busy for hours. During lunch and evening hours, the Renaissance Plaza offers regularly scheduled water shows. Renaissance Plaza is on the corner of Mamaroneck Avenue and Main Street. Colored lights and music truly make the fountain shows magical to see.
