Activities in the City of Dublin, California

Dublin's incorporation occurred in 1982. The town is located approximately 350 miles north of Los Angeles and 35 miles east of San Francisco. The resident population of Dublin is 48,821 and is "one of the fastest growing cities in Alameda County for the past several years," as of April 2011, according to the Dublin website. The city provides activities, programs and classes for its growing population throughout the year.
  1. Youth Activities

    • The City of Dublin organizes events and activities specifically geared toward teenagers. Teens are typically in school during the day and choose more specific after-school activities for afternoons and evenings. Teenagers in Dublin can enjoy special events like dances, lock-ins, car shows and ice cream socials. The City of Dublin offers dances, talent shows and music lessons. The Dance Studio in Dublin along with Pallen Martial Art's staff offers martial arts classes for children ages of 13 and older.

    Holiday Celebrations

    • Most of Dublin's holiday celebrations occur in winter and are focused around Christmas. The town has an annual holiday tree lighting as well as a performance called "Breakfast with Santa" at Shannon Community Center. The proceeds from this show benefit the Dublin High School Irish Guard Band Boosters. At the Dublin Senior Center, the town features a Bay Bells Winter Concert, and residents can also attend a holiday tea party at Dublin Heritage Park and Museums. Dublin also celebrates St. Patrick's Day with a festival at the Dublin Civic Center that includes music, dance, food and drink and carnival rides.

    Senior Activities

    • The City of Dublin Senior Center provides entertainment and activities for the older citizens and residents of Dublin. Every weekday between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., the center, with help from Spectrum Community Services, provides lunches for low prices. Senior citizens also have the opportunity to volunteer through the Senior Center, which is a good way to spend time after retirement. Programs on the weekends include ping pong, watercolor art class, beginning/intermediate line dance and jazzercise. The Dublin Senior Center also offers activities like diabetes classes and holiday wreath making.

    Outdoor Activities

    • Dublin has a range of parks, like Bray Commons, Dublin Sports Grounds, Fallon Sports Park and Mape Memorial Park. Each park has its own set of amenities and activities. Some even feature art displays, like Stagecoach Park's mosaic tile seating area and Ted Fairfield Park's Johanna Poethig display. Most parks contain barbecues and a picnic area. Dublin sports parks offer amenities like baseball diamonds, basketball courts, volleyball courts and play equipment.
