Craft shows are held at various locations throughout the United States, with those centered in and around Butler, Pennsylvania happening throughout the year. Craft shows feature both local and regional artists displaying and selling their crafts.
April brings to the Butler area the Kaleidoscope Slippery Rock Regional Arts Festival which is both hosted and held at Slippery Rock University. The 10-day event showcases a multitude of crafts from an assortment of craftsmen from throughout the region.
During the month of August, The Regatta at Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park, is a combination event which features a craft show portion as part of the total festivities. Boating and fishing events takes center stage for the majority of the event, however, the crafts on display and for sale are an added attraction for the 50,000 guests which attend the Regatta every year.
At the start of the winter season, close to the end of November, the Weihnachten Platz German Holiday Market and WeihnachtMarkt (also known as the Christmas Market) focus on crafts of German heritage. During the month of February, the Age of Aquarius Art and Music Festival, hosted by the Associated Artists of Butler County, provides a venue for both musicians and artists across multiple mediums. The annual event is centered around a new theme each year. On News Years Eve, the Ring in the Arts event takes place annually and features a craft show as part of the event. One additional craft show held during the winter is the Farkelberry Craft Show in November featuring holiday inspired crafts. February brings the annual Gothic Show focusing on crafts themed around gothic styles and ideas.
In September, the Saxonburg Festival of the Arts, sponsored by the Saxonburg Historical and Restoration Commission, offers an arts appreciation event that lasts for one full weekend. One area of the event is devoted to crafts. September also features the Penn's Colony Festival which is a celebration of Early American Art and the craft show portion of the event further focuses on arts and crafts from that period in time. The Butler Fall Ethnic Festival, also held during September, celebrates craftsmen and showcases crafts from various ethnic backgrounds to coincide with the festival's overarching theme of diversity.
