Dinner Train Tours in Wisconsin

A convenient way to take in the sites of Wisconsin, such as the Lookout Mountain or the Baraboo Hills, is by participating in a dinner train tour. Located throughout the state, dinner trains provide special event dinners for holidays, family outings and Sunday brunches. Many of the dining cars used during the tours were built between 1910 and 1920.

  1. East Troy Electric Railroad

    • Located in East Troy, Wisconsin, the East Troy Electric Railroad provides dinner trains which travel from East Troy to Phantom Lake and back to East Troy. These two-and-one-half hour dinner train tours consist of a cheese spread, salad and rolls. A cash bar is located on-site. Throughout the year the company offers special dinner events such as an "Evening in Paris," where you dine on steak and baked potatoes, or "Autumn Harvest," for a meal of beef tenderloin and mashed potatoes. Reservations are required for all dinner trains.

    Mid-Continent's Dinner Train

    • Situated in North Freedom, Wisconsin, the Mid-Continent Railway offers dinner train tours on designated dates in May and October. Travel past the Baraboo Hills during this two hour tour while aboard train cars built in the early 1900s. After getting to know fellow passengers during the cocktail hour, a multiple-course dinner is served on the train's china. The company recommends arriving 15 minutes prior to departure. Reservations are required.

    Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad

    • Located in Spooner, Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad offers seven dinner train tours which run from early May to late October, and late November to mid-December. The elegant dinner train prepares a bevy of entrees include pork chops, pasta dishes and shrimp scampi. After dinner, dance to music from the 60s and up on the designated dance floor in the club car. The two-hour family pizza train consists of a meal of pizzas provided by the local pizzeria, Tony's Riverside. All dinner tours are given on a 1918 dining car. Reservations are recommended for all tours.
