The Best Directions to Snowshoe Mountain

Snowshoe Mountain is a ski resort located in West Virginia that receives an average of 180 inches of snowfall per year. Located in the Allegheny Mountains with a summit elevation of more than 4,800 feet, the resort offers summer activities in addition to skiing and snowboarding in winter.

  1. GPS or Online Maps

    • Snowshoe Mountain is in a rural area, so if you have a GPS navigational system, it's best to use longitude and latitude coordinates instead of the street address. To get to the Village Center, enter 38.4119 North and 79.9963 West. If you're using mapquest.com or another online map service, use the physical address.

    Points North and South

    • If you're headed to Snowshoe Mountain from the northern city of Pittsburgh, take I-79 South to Weston, West Virginia. Leaving from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania? Take US-220 to I-70 East and pick up I-81 in Hagerstown, Maryland. Those from Wilmington, Baltimore and other points northeast will travel on I-95, I-70 and I-81. From the Washington D.C. area, take I-66 West to I-81 South. Snowshoe Mountain is also easily accessible from the southern states. From the Raleigh-Durham and Greensboro areas in North Carolina, take US-220 to Virginia to I-64 West. From Charlotte, North Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia, take I-77 north to Beckley, West Virginia, then take I-64 east to Sulphur Springs.

    Points East and West

    • From the east, take I-64 West from Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Norfolk and Richmond areas to I-81 North to Staunton, Virginia. Go west on US-250, then south on 42 to Goshen, Virginia. Pick up WV-39 to Marlinton, West Virginia, and drive 26 miles north to Snowshoe on US-19. If you're traveling west from Detroit, Toledo and Cleveland areas, major routes include I-75, I-80/90, I-77 and I-79. If you're traveling from Chicago, Indianapolis, Dayton and Columbus, travel I-65, I-70 and I-79. From Nashville and Knoxville, travel on I-40, I-81 North and I-77 North to get to Snowshoe. From Cincinnati, take Rt. 50 east and 1-79 to Weston, Virginia. From the Evansville, Louisville and Lexington areas, use I-64 to White Sulphur Springs, Rt. 92 and Rt. 39 to Marlinton, West Virginia, then north for 26 miles on US-219.
