Information on Las Vegas Nightclubs

Since the 1990s, Las Vegas has become one of America's great nightclub cities. The Las Vegas City Search website lists 251 clubs, of which almost half are on the Strip. Some are mega-clubs with multiple floors and bars, suited for large parties. Others are small clubs and lounges for quieter celebrations.

  1. Mega-Clubs

    • Most Strip hotels have their "exclusive" nightclubs, which means entry fees of $30 or more and tipping the doorman another $10 or $20 for immediate entrance. You can also buy VIP packages for $50 or more to bypass the line and secure a few other privileges. The settings are high-level excitement and crowds. The Tao in the Venetian hotel holds 2,500 guests while the Tabu in MGM Grand holds 350. Other mega-clubs vary between those two capacities.

    Smaller Clubs and Lounges

    • Overlooking all of Las Vegas, the Stratosphere features the Air Bar and 107 Lounge

These clubs are on the Strip and scattered all about Las Vegas, stand-alone locations or in some major hotels as a quieter choice for their guests. They are retreats for dining, drinking and mingling while being entertained, or for dancing and listening to a live band, singers, comedians and other entertainers. Some focus on featuring local talent.

    Dress Codes

    • Swanky clubs have strict dress codes, not necessarily tie and jacket but stylish clothes. The doorman (bouncer) might choose to keep out men with ball caps, T-shirts, jeans and gangster wear. Women should dress well, too, in evening or cocktail outfits.
