Nevada Tourism Information

Nevada offers a variety of travel destinations for tourists, including the famous city of Las Vegas. Known primarily for gambling, Nevada also offers scenic nature parks, old western towns and historical landmarks.

  1. Casinos

    • Located in southern Nevada, Las Vegas has luxury accommodations in the casinos of "the Strip." In addition to gambling, the casino-resorts offer a variety of shows, shopping, wedding chapels and first-rate dining. Reno, to the north, and Laughlin, to the south, offer luxury casinos as well.

    Historic Sites

    • South of Reno, Virginia City dates back to 1859 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Stay in the state's oldest hotel, the Gold Hill Hotel, visit Piper's Opera House or take a ride on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. In addition, visit the mining town of Goldfield or the ghost town of Rhyolite.

    Parks and Recreation

    • Nevada offers 70 parks and recreation areas. Lake Tahoe offers jet skiing and hiking in summer or skiing in winter. Red Rock Canyon has over 30 hiking trails, horseback riding, rock climbing and mountain biking and features the best geologic examples of the Mojave desert.
