Fun Things to Do Tonight in New York City

New York City is the most populated city in America and lives up to its popular nickname as the city that never sleeps. Tonight, stroll down Manhattan's 42nd Street toward Times Square and its bright billboards, or toward Broadway and catch a show. With some bars closing at 4 a.m. and some dance clubs in Manhattan closing at 8 a.m., you could literally stay out all night tonight.

  1. Comedy Clubs

    • Comedy clubs are plentiful in New York City. Check out the Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village, featuring two comedy shows during the week, three on Friday, and four on Saturday. The Comedy Club offers full dinner and beverage menus; performers such as Dave Attell, Kevin James, and Wanda Sykes have all performed here. The club is 21+ and will charge you a cover charge, plus a two-drink minimum. For a less expensive night of laughter, go to the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (UCB) in Manhattan. Shows are either free or nearly free. Be sure to arrive early, as space is limited.

    Night Clubs

    • Tonight, choose from several of New York City's dance clubs for a fun night. The 40/40 Club in Manhattan is open until 4 a.m. seven days a week and features a food and drink menu and several VIP rooms. Touch Night Club, near Times Square in Manhattan, was rated as the city's best dance club in 2008 by Zagat. The venue opened in 2007; it has over 15,000 square feet of dance space and chic lounges.

    Bars

    • Brooklyn is also a large part of NYC nightlife. Head to Brooklyn bar Last Exit on Atlantic Ave. just over the Brooklyn Bridge. The bar offers six bottles of Miller High Life in a bucket for a low price. Barcade, located near Williamsburg in Brooklyn, features many arcade games and is open until 4 a.m. every day. Despite the games, you must be at least 21 years old to enter.
