The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located in Central Park. It welcomes approximately five million yearly visitors to view the two million plus works of art. There are pieces on exhibit that display over 5,000 years of culture from around the globe. Admission into the museum also includes a same-day admission into the Cloisters Museum and Gardens, which has approximately 3,000 pieces on display, with the earliest dating to medieval Europe.
The Times Square location of Toys R Us is an unofficial New York City landmark. There are three stories of toy-themed adventures for adults and children of all ages. Located inside the toy store is a Ferris wheel with seats mimicking favorite childhood favorites, such as Barbie and a school bus. Greeting customers at the entrance is "Bobby," the giant toy soldier. Located throughout the store are several attractions and entertainment shows, such as magicians in Marvin's Magic, a 25-foot Lego replica of the Statue of Liberty and Barbie's dollhouse for everything Barbie.
The aquarium is located at Coney Island in Brooklyn; it has over 8,000 animals on exhibit. There are various feeding demonstrations, a touch pool and a 4-D movie entitled "Planet Earth: Shallow Seas." As of October 2010, the aquarium is open every day of the year.
The Empire State Building is one of the tallest buildings in New York City; on a clear day, visitors in to observatory will be able to see for a distance of 80 miles, which includes views of New York, as well as the neighboring states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut. From street level to the 102nd floor, there are 1,860 steps; however, visitors will take the elevators to the floors of their choice. There are two observatory decks, one on the 86th floor and one on the 102nd floor. Cameras and video recorders are allowed, and all visitors have to go through a security check upon entering the building.
