The city of Melbourne is located in Brevard County, Florida and is home to senior citizens who find the area to be a great retirement community. Located approximately eight miles south of Melbourne is the Greater Palm Bay Senior Center (GPBSC). The facility opened in Jan. 20, 2989, is 9,315 square feet and is equipped with a main hall and three smaller meeting rooms. The facility is designed to accommodate the needs of seniors in the community and offers activities such as dancing, games, fitness classes, art and woodworking classes, outdoor excursions and group tours. GPBSC offers services and events for seniors including blood pressure readings, a library, notary services, AARP safe driving class and a travel office. Bingo is available every Friday evening to the public with proceeds going to the GPBSC to help with program costs.
