Located halfway between Melbourne and Vero Beach, Barefoot Bay sits on the east coast of Florida. Barefoot Bay can be found on the Indian River Lagoon and less than an hour away from the Kennedy Space Center, SeaWorld, Cypress Gardens and Disney World. Along with several gyms and fitness facilities in Sebastian, Barefoot Bay residents and visitors can also participate in other fitness activities. Various clubs exist in Barefoot Bay for fitness activities such as Tai Chi, yoga, walking, aerobics, swimming and tennis. Residents can take part in nontraditional fitness activities such as ballroom dancing, square dancing and bowling through organized clubs.
Barefoot Bay is also home to a number of social clubs and activities for area residents to enjoy time with one another. Social activities cater to a range of interests, from the fine arts with the Barefoot Bay Artists Guild that meets one Friday each month to gardening with the Garden Club and Green Thumb Farmers Clubs. Social activities come in the form of religious clubs with several Bible studies being offered for both men and women. Other activities are purely social in nature, such as the men's and ladies' poker nights, pinochle club and euchre club.
Shopping is another popular activity in the Barefoot Bay area with numerous different types of shopping available. For those interested in a good deal or something old, several thrift stores, flea markets and antique shops can be found in Barefoot Bay, such as the Micco Antique Mall (no website; 9330 U.S. Hwy 1, Micco; 772-664-1020). Antique shops and thrift stores can also be found in nearby Grant and Sebastian. Just 15 miles away in Vero Beach, shoppers can visit the Vero Beach Stores (verobeachstores.com) and Vero Beach Fashion Outlets (verobeachoutlets.com).
With warm temperatures year-round, Barefoot Bay residents take advantage of three heated community pools to swim, take part in water aerobics and socialize. Each of the pools has plenty of chaise lounges, chairs and picnic tables around the pool area for people to relax and enjoy a picnic lunch or dinner. The Barefoot Bay pools are open to residents with visitor's passes available for purchase.
