Senior Activities in Aurora, CO

The city of Aurora, Colorado, is a community where seniors will find a host of activities that will contribute to their health and well-being. Adults ages 50 and older can participate in sports, recreation and exercise, educational programs, special events and other leisure activities. In a place with more than 8,000 recreation classes, 100 parks and 300 days of sun, seniors will find many interesting things to do throughout the year.

  1. Aurora Center Programs

    • Adults ages 50 and older can enjoy a wide range of activities offered by the Aurora Center for Active Adults (ACAA). The programs offered include watching concerts; creating arts and crafts; playing games to improve cognitive fitness; enrolling in computer classes; and participating in dance classes and day trips and hikes. Join fitness activities such as tai chi, yoga and pilates and learn about health and nutrition in classes. Activities are open to seniors from Monday through Saturday and fees depend on the program offered.

    Adult Sports

    • Seniors in Aurora ages 50 and over can participate in sports leagues. Join the Recreational Volleyball League and be part of the team of the Colorado Senior Volleyball Association League. Games are played throughout the Denver-Aurora metro area during the spring and fall.

      Seniors 50 and older can also play tennis under the USTA Seniors League. The league holds three doubles matches with a minimum of six players. Games are held from July through August from Monday to Thursday. Fees are either per player or per team.

    Morning Star Adult Day Program

    • Just ten minutes away from Aurora, seniors can join leisurely activities through the Morning Star Adult Day Program. The Colorado Association of Homes and Services for the Aging awarded Morning Star with the Quality First Award. Adults ages 55 and older can participate in activities such as music therapy, bingo, yoga, kite-making, storytelling and art classes. The center is open from Monday through Friday and a fee is charged per day or for less than five hours at the center.
