Minnesota Campgrounds With Tubing

Though Minnesota is known as the “Land of 10,000 Lakes,” it is also home to over 69,000 miles of rivers and streams according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Many are perfect for tubing. Minnesota's state parks, forests and wilderness areas offer you a vast selection of campsites along river routes fit for tubing.

  1. Cannon River

    • Less than an hour from the Twin Cities, Hidden Valley Campground offers 200 campsites along the banks of the Cannon River. Tube rentals are available and shuttles will bring you upstream for a 5-mile leisurely tube ride back to the campground.

    The Platte River

    • The Platte River is shallow and clear with no rapids to contend with according to the U.S. National Park Service. Located along the Platte River, in Royalton, Two Rivers Campground and Tubing supplies tube and shuttle service for your 3.5-mile float back to the campground. Two Rivers provides both tent and RV sites, over a mile of river frontage, free Wi-Fi, a family-friend atmosphere and a swimming pool.

    Red Lake River

    • Voyageur's View in Red Lake Falls offers camping and tubing along the Red Lake River. You will experience Red Lake River in much the same way the voyageurs did many hundreds of years ago. Pets are welcome at Voyageur's View, as long as they remain on leash.

    Root River

    • You begin your float down Root River in downtown Lanesboro. Pass through Mystery Caverns and get tossed over small rapids. There are two campgrounds in the area that offer tubing. Eagle Cliff Campground offers sites for tent or RV camping. There is also a five-room motel on site.The park rents tubes and offers shuttle service for float trips. The Old Barn Resort & Rivers' Bend Golf Course provides 170 available tent or RV sites. You can rent tubes for a Lanesboro Root River tubing experience. Or you may simply choose to rent a tube on site and float lazily along the South Branch of the Root River which runs through the property.

    Rum River

    • Located in Central Minnesota, the Rum River is designated as a wild and scenic river by the Minnesota Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. It is perfect for tubing. South of Isanti, you will find Country Camping Tent & RV Park which offers full hookups, pull-through RV sites and tent sites along the water. The facility takes you upriver for the two-mile, two-hour float back to the campground.

    Zumbro River

    • On the Zumbro River, the first tube riders of the day are likely to see eagles. At Bluff Valley Campground, you can choose to camp along the river or closer to the other amenities offered by the facility.The campground provides tube rentals, life jackets and shuttle service for tubing trips.
