Campgrounds in Wabasha, Minnesota

A government document called, "The 2nd Treaty of Prairie du Chien," declared Wabasha a town in 1830, making it the oldest town in Minnesota. Wabasha is located in the southeastern part of the state, near the Minnesota-Wisconsin border amidst a spectacular array of natural and cultural wonders centered around the Mighty Mississippi River. This river town is known for the National Eagle Center, inspiring the film, "Grumpy Old Men" and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming. There are campgrounds in Wabasha for all types of campers, including those who prefer to sleep in hotels.
  1. Wabasha Municipal Campground

    • The city of Wabasha operates a 48-site campground on the banks of the Mississippi River seasonally. All but three of the campsites are independently leased and available on first-come first-serve basis. The campground features a boat launch with four ramps and abundant parking for trailers. All ampsites have hook-ups for water, sewer and electric, so they are suitable for tents or RVs. Amenities include clean bathrooms and hot showers.

    Wabasha Motel and RV

    • For a different spin on camping, visit Wabasha Motel and RV. As the name implies, there are not tent sites, but the park does offer 13 full service RV sites and 2 limited service (no sewer or water) sites. The motel has 10 rooms with phones and cable. The entire park has access to free wireless Internet. Wabasha Motel and RV is within walking distance of downtown and the banks of the Mississippi River.

    Pioneer CampSite Resort

    • The Pioneer CampSite Resort is located in the Hiawatha Valley near the backwaters of the Mississippi River. The Resort features a pool, miniature golf course, game room, basketball courts, softball field, playgrounds, fitness course and hot showers in a serene river setting. Canoes are available for rental. Rates vary by type of site: no hook-ups, water and electric or full hook-ups. As of February, 2010, the resort is open April 15th through October 15th and has 250 campsites to choose from.
