Sebring is located in Highlands County, Florida. The city is noted for the Sebring International Raceway, which hosts an annual Le Mans series race. Lake Jackson is located within the city and has several beaches, boat ramps and a fishing dock.

  1. Sebring International Raceway

    • Sebring International Raceway is one of the oldest racetracks in the United States. Sebring is known for the annual 12 Hours of Sebring race, generally held in March. Spectators and fans can camp inside on the green of the raceway, and reserved tickets can be purchased before the event for reserved camp spaces. There are different types of tickets for access to the pit areas and spectator boxes. Fans can watch the various qualifying events and a vintage car race. There is also a Midway area with attractions and race merchandise.

    Highlands Hammock State Park

    • Highlands Hammock State Park opened to the public in 1931, and features old growth cypress, orchids and ferns. What is believed to be the oldest oak in Florida is in the park, with a circumference of 36 feet. The park is an oasis offering hiking, biking, skating and horseback riding trails. There are nine biking trails and a 3-mile trail offers a scenic loop around the park. The elevated boardwalk spans Charlie Bowlegs Creek and visitors might glimpse an alligator, wild turkeys, bobcat or eagles. The park offers a variety of camping areas from full service to primitive camping with no running water or electricity. There are also four equestrian campsites. Well-behaved pets are welcome in the park.

    Lost Mines of Atlantis

    • The Lost Mines of Atlantis has the largest flume in Florida. Rock hounds will enjoy searching for rubies and opals. Different types of buckets are available and rough stones in their natural shapes abound. Prospectors can rent a screen and search for several different types of gems including moonstone, agate, peridot, garnet and sapphire.
