Waterpark Attractions Nearest to Miami, Florida

There is nothing quite like the fun of a water park on a hot day. Water parks include swimming areas, waterslides and relaxing rivers with fun for the whole family. In the Miami area you can find a choice of water park activities in county and city parks. These parks close during the winter months.

  1. Grapeland Water Park

    • The Grapeland Water Park, also known as Blackbeard's Beach, is operated by the city of Miami and offers fun in the sun for kids of all ages. It is the only water park in the city of Miami. The park has four pools designed with different age groups in mind. Visitors can relax poolside in the lounge chairs or under the large umbrellas. All pools are handicapped accessible.

At Shipwreck Island the 5-and-under crowd can splash in shallow waters or get splashed by large buckets of water. Life vests are available for rent, and swim diapers are for sale, just in case.

Swimmers age 6 and older can climb to the top of the structure at Pirate's Plunge for a slippery slide down one of the pool's two slides. The pool has zero entry access, much like a beach entry, which begins with no edge and a gradual increase in depth. In this pool there is plenty of space for the whole family to enjoy.

Captain's Lagoon presents a large pool for the family with no slides or buckets of water to douse you. This large pool offers a wide open space for swimming and relaxing in the water.

The Buccaneer River Ride has plenty of inflatable tubes to take you on a 600-foot float trip around the park, but expect to get sprayed and squirted with water along the way.

    Paradise Cove Water Park

    • Paradise Cove Water Park is located in Pembroke Pines, 18 miles from Miami. The water park is in C.B. Smith Park, part of the Broward County Parks and Recreation facilities. The park includes a shallow pool with small waterslides and interactive play equipment for the little ones and a deeper pool with longer slides for the whole family. For a bit more excitement, H2-Whoa is a more challenging choice with its 450-foot waterslides. Participants in this section must be able to swim and must be at least 42 inches tall. The park also includes a lazy river with 410 feet of a curved route for tubes. Free use of life vests is available for water playgrounds and for Crazy Creek, the lazy river ride. Paradise Cove is open during the spring and summer months.

    Castaway Island Water Playground

    • Another Broward County Parks and Recreation water park is located in Topeekeegee Yungee Park. Castaway Island Water Playground is in Hollywood, 20 miles from Miami. The water park includes two water playgrounds suitable for all age groups. In the park there are six waterslides. The Lagoon is a zero entry pool, with no ladders to navigate and a gradual increase in depth. The pool also includes a waterfall. For relaxation around the water park area Castaway Island has eight 20-foot funbrellas which can be reserved for groups up to 30 persons allowing you take a break from the hot Florida sun.
