Tangerine is an unincorporated community in central Florida about 25 miles from Orlando. The area is probably best known as home to a variety of theme parks, such as Disney and Universal Studios. More than 50 million tourists visit the area each year. While the large attractions are a major draw for visitors, there are many other things to see and do in Orlando. This includes museums, art galleries, dinner theaters, wineries, boat and train tours and a zoo.
Scott's Maze Adventures is part of Long and Scott Farms in Mount Dora, about five miles from Tangerine. It is billed as a maze adventure park and includes a picnic area, playground, 60-foot slide, catch-and-release fishing for kids, a hay ride and three mazes cut through seven acres of corn fields. The park is open during the fall of each year and the mazes change yearly.

Mount Dora Museum of Speed is about five miles from Tangerine and open Monday through Friday to visitors and on Saturday to large group tours. The museum has a collection of classic, muscle, pedal and quarter midget race cars. Visitors will also see a collection of car and music related memorabilia including vintage road signs, jukeboxes and fire extinguishers; luggage covered in travel stickers; antique oil cans and soda machines; and autographed passes from famous rock and country concerts. Also included are vintage gas pumps and a 1940s gas station rebuilt inside the museum.

Indy Racing Experience is in Lake Buena Vista at the Walt Disney World Speedway. It is just outside the Disney theme park and about 18 miles from Tangerine. Driving and race car enthusiasts will find this attraction fast and thrilling. Visitors can take a three-lap ride with an Indy driver on a one mile track or go for an eight-lap ride in a car from the Indianapolis 500. The speedway is open year round, as of 2010.

Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens is about 24 miles away in Sanford and open year round. The zoo has more than 400 animals, which include a dozen types of birds, 22 types of mammals and 28 types of amphibians. The zoo also has a herpetarium which has the largest collection of reptiles in the southeast and an insect zoo. In addition to the zoo and gardens, the park offers a splash ground to keep cool and an air adventure where guests can glide through the trees on zip lines, rope bridges and suspended disks.
