Located in scenic western New York, lies the quaint village of East Aurora. Incorporated in 1874, this historic small town just 25 miles from Buffalo is home to former United States President Millard Fillmore, the largest toy manufacturer in the world, Fisher-Price and of many picturesque parks.   1. Sinking Ponds Nature Preserve

    • This wildlife sanctuary is located just outside of the East Aurora village limits. Home to migrating geese, various fowl and other animals, this natural habitat offers visitors the opportunity to view nature close-up in a most peaceful setting. In addition to viewing wildlife, explore various plant life while hiking on the nature trails within the 70-acre park.

    Knox Farm State Park

    • As the former country estate of the well-known Knox family of Buffalo, this 633-acre state park has over 400 acres of natural vegetation and over 100 woodland and wetland acres. Visitors can view wildlife, horseback ride and cross-country ski on the nature trails. Farm animals are also on-site and nature walks by the New York and Buffalo Audubon Societies are available.

    Marilla Town Park

    • Residents and visitors staying in East Aurora can easily walk to this park from the downtown district. Shaded picnic facilities, a playground, baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts are available to enjoy. A catch and release fish pond is also located within this most tranquil park.

    Emery Park

    • This 489-acre park located less than five miles from East Aurora, offers endless outdoor activities each season. Visitors will enjoy viewing wildlife and various plant life on the nature trails along the Cazenovia Creek. Paved bicycle paths, picnic shelters, softball fields and a playground are also within the park. During the winter months, there is snowmobiling, snowshoeing, downhill and cross country skiing. A ski-lodge is also on park property.

    Chestnut Ridge Park

    • Located approximately 10 minutes west of East Aurora in Orchard Park, this park offers abundant seasonal activities for the outdoor enthusiast. During the winter months, visitors enjoy the many sledding and snowboarding runs, and trails for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. There are 12 tennis courts, trails for hiking and biking and plenty of shaded picnic and playground areas available throughout this 1,213-acre park.
