• The largest and most popular indoor water park in New York is Six Flags Great Escape Lodge. The water park is themed with the hotel to feel as if you are in the middle of the wilderness. Families can splash across 38,000 square feet of water park fun with a multilevel water tree house with water slides and 160 interactive features. The Boogie Bear Surf is a body board and surfing pool with waves strong enough you can stand on them. Tak-it-eesi-Creek is a lazy river that stretches across the park for a quiet stroll. There is also the Avalanche Family Raft Ride with a 41 foot drop as well as the Tip-A-Kanu Beach for smaller children. Adults over 18 can relax in the Soakum Springs designed with grownups in mind.

Big Splash

• The Big Splash is located in Northern New York. The biggest attraction is the 230-foot-tall Giant Waterslide. The lengthy slide is best for older children, but the Mining Town Aqua Station is designed for younger children. Its wading pool and interactive features are designed solely with young children in mind. Those up for the challenge can try the Water Walk Challenge where you pull yourself across tubes by using a net above the water- without falling in! Other attractions include Twin Racers, dumping buckets and geysers.

Greek Peak Resort

• For 51 years families have been visiting Greek Peak for winter fun on the slopes. In December 2009 the resort opened its newest addition. The Hope Lake Lodge Lodge and Cascades Indoor Water Park. There are 151 new suites and condos available for a weekend getaway as well as a 42,000-square-foot indoor water park. The water park has six water slides, and two enclosed slides even venture outside. There is also a 1,000-gallon dump bucket that drenches those playing in the water. Younger children can play in the wading pool and adults can use the hot tubs in the park.
