Best Things to See in Las Vegas

Being the home to perhaps the greatest collection of casinos, spas and resort hotels, Las Vegas provides a number of must-see things. Yet, it's not just about casino mania and luxury accommodations. This tourist Mecca is also famous for historic streets filled with world-class arts and entertainment spectacles, landmark attractions and world record milestones that amaze locals and tourists in every visit.

  1. Fremont Street Experience

    • In the heart of downtown Las Vegas is the historic Fremont Street Experience, an entire street filled with top Las Vegas attractions including 10 legendary casinos, more than 60 dining areas and thousands of slots. As one of the most popular spots in Las Vegas, it hosts around 20 million visitors each year.

This seven-block open-air pedestrian mall features permanent performance stages, roaming street performances, free concerts, special events, distinctive restaurants, and unique shopping kiosks. Overhead are the famous graphic light shows, offered in a state-of-the-art 1,500-foot LED screen called the Viva Vision, "the biggest big screen on the planet" with a 550,000-watt concert-quality sound system. The awe-inspiring Viva Vision shows provide incredible arrays of eye-popping imagery and heart-pounding music suiting the festive and tourist-driven mood of Fremont Street. These free shows, highlighted by the 90-foot giant screen above the pedestrian mall, happen nightly on the hour beginning at dusk.

    Bellagio Fountains

    • The Bellagio Fountains is one of the most impressive water features ever designed to create an ambitious dancing water complex. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Las Vegas sky in a picturesque eight-acre lake in front of the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, this complimentary show of water, music and lights is more than 1,000 feet long. It has more than 1,000 water nozzles synchronized to perform with 4,000 lights and various musical patterns. At each show, the water dances and shoots 250 feet into the sky.

This unprecedented aquatic accomplishment features dynamic water concert performances with musical styles from love songs and pop music to opera, classical and Broadway tunes. Every dynamic show is hard to pass when walking through the area as the water and light spectacle amazingly responds to the tempo of the music.

    Stratosphere Tower

    • The Stratosphere Tower is the tallest free-standing observation tower in the U.S. It soars 151 stories above Las Vegas hotels and casinos for an unbeatable birds-eye view of the city. The tower is an ideal attraction for those with a head for heights. As one of the most exciting places in Las Vegas, it juts 1,149 feet into the sky, and its uppermost spire is visible from nearly anywhere in the Las Vegas Valley.

The top of Stratosphere Tower has three thrill rides for height-loving guests. While some people are content with gazing upon the elegance of Las Vegas from the lounge at 107th floor; the more daring ones can go on up to the tower's "Big Shot" for an additional 160 feet of giddy heights on a burst of compressed air at 45 mph. "The X-Scream" is a giant teeter-totter propelling thrill-seekers 27 feet over the edge of the Tower at 866 feet above the ground. "Insanity, the Ride" is a massive mechanical arm extending 64 feet over the edge of the tower. It spins riders around with a force allowing a truly mind-bending and hair-raising experience.
