Dance Clubs in Boston

Although Boston is known for clam chowder and the Red Sox, the city's club scene is full of young people who love to dance all weekend long. Whether you're looking for a night-long party, a sophisticated modern hangout or a traditional Irish pub, Boston has it. Every Friday and Saturday night, in winter or summer, you'll be able to find dance-loving Bostonians in clubs throughout the city.

  1. Gypsy Bar

    • This trendy club gives those looking to spend money in Boston's theatre district somewhere to relax and hang out on a Friday or Saturday night. While clubs generally don't scream "relax," the Gypsy Bar's modern interior and high-fashion style (complete with chandeliers and leather seating) say to the wealthy that this is the place to sip martinis on the weekend. Celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Heidi Klum, throw parties here, which tells club goers that this is not your average club. Cover charges as of January 2010 range from $10 to $60, depending on the night of the week and the events that are being held.

    Hurricane O'Reilly's

    • Those looking for an inexpensive night (no cover charge, as of 2010) that includes dancing, drinking and traditional Boston Irish charm will definitely want to check out Hurricane O'Reilly's. This club has a bar feel because the owners consider it a "pub" rather than a club. However, the pub is unlike most others in the respect that it includes a mix of live music, DJs spinning anything from reggae to 1980s new wave and, of course, a dance floor. And while it's definitely Irish, around Mardi Gras O'Reilly's also has a hint of New Orleans thrown into the mix with jazz music and Cajun dishes and decor.

    The Kells of Boston

    • For a more traditional "Irish" pub, The Kells of Boston has everything you're looking for. This is the perfect spot for those who want to grab a bite and start dancing without leaving the restaurant. Kells has four bars, a restaurant and two dance floors. The club manages to fit all of this within two levels in the Brighton area of Boston. There is a cover charge some nights, but you might find it's worth it to have your eats and beats in the same place for a night of fun.

    The Liquor Store

    • The Liquor Store actually isn't your average liquor store. In fact, it's a party bar in the theatre district of Boston. If DJs spinning top-40 hits every Friday and Saturday night isn't enough to get you pumped at this club, they also have a mechanical bull to ride and a bikini contest on Fridays, which always packs the house. The $5 cover charge (at January 2010) is inexpensive compared to other clubs and is worth it for the party you'll end up having.
