Dance Clubs in Germany

When it comes to high-energy dance clubs with plenty of lights and state-of-the-art sound systems, Germany has some of the best in the world. Many of these clubs specialize in techno music by DJs, and occasionally by live bands. These clubs tend to stay open until the wee hours of the morning and many only open their doors on Friday and Saturday nights.
  1. Cocoon Club

    • Situated in Frankfort, the Cocoon Club is open from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on on Fridays and Saturdays. This is a large dance club with 29,000 square feet of space and high-tech sound and lighting systems. Among its feature is a long wall that shows holograms, a pulpit area where DJs spin tunes and a VIP Lounge that is located above the main dance floor. It also has 13 private areas where guests can watch the club's happenings on a personal touch video screen. The club has a restaurant that hosts private events. On Fridays, the club features international techno music. On Saturdays, the main floor features techno music, while the micro floor--with its own dancing area--offers soul and funk. Live concerts are held at the Cocoon Club on occasion.

    Club VelVet

    • Club VelVet is one of the most popular nightclubs in Leipzig. The interior is decorated with deep colors of scarlet to give a hot feeling in an establishment with a large dance floor and bar. The club is open on Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 11 p.m. The cub features different DJs who spin a variety of music, including techno and what the owners describe as "black.'' The bar serves a good selection of various beers and cocktails. Patrons who get hungry can order a sandwich from Subway.

    King Kamehameha Club

    • The King Kamehameha Club is a popular night club in the city of Frankfurt. The club is housed in a converted brewery. The club's two floors each have their own ambiance as well as a restaurant, bar areas, and a large main dance floor. There is also a lounge area with comfortable sofas. Most of the music is played by DJs who regularly appear at the King Kamehameha Club, but on occasion the club will bring in musicians from the local region. The club is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as some selected Wednesdays and Sundays. The club's various promotional evenings include one devoted to the 2010 World Cup.
