Sarasota, Florida, is on the Gulf Coast of the peninsula state, which means it's a few hours from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, where most of the traditional Florida clubbing happens. While Sarasota's bulk population consists of those in the age of retirement, the younger population still has its presence known--at least on weekends from midnight to 2 a.m.
Blu 1266 Lounge is a club for anyone 18 years old or older. The dance floor itself is not too big, so if it's really crowded it can definitely be overwhelming. The drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is like that of a typical Miami night club, with bright blue lights and a sleek white modern design. The DJs spin top 40 hits, techno, electronic and hip-hop music. There are smaller rooms available for couples or small groups to hang out away from the crowds.

The club has top 40 dance music Wednesday through Sunday nights and is for those over 21 and older only. The atmosphere is typical Floridian, with surf boards, girls in bikinis and other beach-themed items.
