Located 40 miles south of Boston and 30 minutes west of the Massachusetts coast, Taunton is a popular destination for kayaking the Taunton River or taking part in the town's many outdoor recreational activities. Designed in the style of a Key West bar, the Sandbar Grill is a Taunton-area bar and grill that is owned by the ex-Key West-touring Baha Brothers band. Music is offered five nights a week, as well as island-themed food and drink specials. Sixteen- and 23-ounce beers are available in draft and bottles, and signature dishes include local favorites "clamcakes with chowdah" and fresh swordfish and haddock. The Sandbar Grill is open daily for lunch and dinner, take-out service is available, and groups and parties are welcome in the 100-person capacity Tiki Room.

The Homeplate Bay Street Grill is a baseball-themed bar that has been serving the Taunton area for over 25 years. Serving cold beer and American fare menu items, the Homeplate Bay Street Grill serves such signature dishes as Homemade Onion Ring Baskets and North End Chicken Parmesan. The restaurant and bar are open weekdays for lunch and dinner until 1 a.m., with an 11 a.m. opening Monday through Friday and an 8 a.m. opening for brunch on weekends. Twenty-five big screen LCD TVs showcase local sports events, and every Thursday the bar offers a karaoke night.

ust 3 miles east of Taunton in Raynham, the Stoneforge Tavern is one of four Stoneforge Taverns in Massachusetts (other three locations are in Foxboro, Easton and Dartmouth). Decorated in an early Colonial fashion, the Stoneforge Tavern offers an open kitchen, 15 televisions and free wireless Internet for business lunches. An outdoor courtyard bar with seating for diners and drinkers is available, and outdoor entertainment shows is featured often.
