RV Camping near the White Mountains and Mogollon Rim in AZ

Arizona has more natural features than just the Grand Canyon, though they may not be as famous. In the northeast corner of the state, the White Mountains and the Mogollon Rim, divides the high country from the hot southern deserts. The area provides many opportunities for RVers to park their vehicles and enjoy nature.

  1. Mogollon Campground

    • Mogollon Campground, located in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, is for RV campers who really enjoy a primitive nature experience. (See Reference 1) The nearest phone is nine miles away; there are no hook-ups, but drinking water and toilets are available. The campground, open May through October, only accepts RVs up to 32 feet long. On the super-plus side, the campground is situated in pine trees only a half-mile walk from the Rim Lakes Vista Trail.

    Elk Pine RV Resort

    • The Elk Pine RV Resort has 65 full hook-up sites for self-contained RVs. It has paved interior roads and RV pads, a club house, activity center, Laundromat, showers and stores. It is not too far from Overgaard which has a golf course and bison ranch. The resort is close to fishing, hunting, hiking and ATV trails. It is open April 1 through October 31.

    Arizona High Country Campground

    • Arizona High Country Campground has water, sewer and electric hook-ups for RVs; Wi-Fi is available. Open April through October, the campground is close to fishing in a White Mountain lake, ATV trails and hunting. It has a five-acre wildlife sanctuary on the premises. The campground also offers a store, showers and restrooms. It is 15 miles from Show Low and Overgaard.

    Sunrise Ski Park

    • Sunrise Ski Park has 20 RV sites available with 30-amp electric service, but no water. It is close to the Sunrise Ski Area with its 65 runs for skiers of all levels. Both are operated by the White Mountain Apache Tribe. Summer activities include hiking, fishing, kayaking and horseback riding.
