RV Camping in the Adirondacks

While RV camping in the Adirondacks, you just might find yourself in one of New York's highest peaks. The primary attraction to the area is Mount Marcy, which boasts an elevation of 5,344 feet. This mountain is considered an absolute must for many hikers---it's over 7 miles to the summit. RV campers can find plenty of outdoor activities throughout the Adirondacks.
  1. Rollins Pond Campground

    • Canoes, rowboats, paddle boats, and kayaks are all available to rent. Paddle or row down the waterway leading to Fish Creek. The campground is approximately 25 miles from Mount Marcy. RVs up to 40 feet can be accommodated. Amenities include 287 campsites, hot showers, flush toilets, trailer dumping station, boat launch (25 HP or under), volleyball, canoeing, boating, fishing, hiking, bicycling and Interpreter Activity Program. Camping is $20 a night and the site is handicapped-accessible.

    Cranberry Lake Campground

    • The lake is fully stocked with trout, so bring a fishing pole. There is a 17.4-mile loop hiking trail system that intermingles with other paths offering hikers over 50 miles of well developed trails. Amenities include 173 RV campsites, hot showers, flush toilets and a trailer dump station. They also have a picnic area with tables, fireplaces and grills. Camping is $20 a night.

    Fish Creek Pond Campground

    • Motorized and non-motorized boats are welcome and can be easily put into the water at one of the many rivers and ponds at the campground. There are miles of open water available for the motorboat enthusiast at Saranac Lake. The site is approximately 25 miles from Mount Marcy. RVs up to 40 feet can be accommodated. Amenities include 355 campsites, beach, playground, hot showers, flush toilets, trailer dumping station, boat launch and hiking trails. Camping is $22 a night, and the site is handicapped-accessible.

    Eighth Lake Campground

    • Opened in 1935 to the public, Eighth Lake Campground was the result of Civilian Conservation Corps projects nearby. The campground is approximately 45 miles from Mount Marcy. RVs up to 40 feet can be accommodated. Amenities include 126 RV sites, picnic area with tables and fireplaces, flush toilets, hot showers, trailer dump station, sand beach, swimming area, bathhouse, canoe rentals, boat rentals and hiking trails. Camping is $22 a night, and the site is handicapped-accessible.

    Brown Tract Pond Campground

    • Considered one of the best kept secrets in the Adirondacks, the campground is on the east shore of the Brown Tract Pond, which offers a kind of beauty and relaxation all its own. The campsites are private, large and well forested. The site is approximately 25 miles from Mount Marcy. RVs up to 30 feet can be accommodated. Amenities include 90 RV sites, picnic area with tables and fireplaces, flush toilets, trailer dump station, recycling center, canoeing, boating, fishing, hiking swimming and bicycling. Camping is $18 a night.
