Consolidate your miles into one - or just a few - programs. If you have frequent flyer accounts with several partner airlines, choose just one program and transfer your miles from the other partner airline accounts to the one you choose. This will give you less to keep track of and more miles to use at one time.
Learn the value of your points or miles to maximize the benefit of using miles when you travel. A mile can be worth up to two cents when comparing a ticket bought with miles to a ticket bought with dollars. If you are not getting at least 1.5 cents per mile out of your mileage points, consider paying in dollars for your ticket instead.
Read the rules and restrictions governing your program's miles or points. Learn when the miles expire, how you can use them and what restrictions are enforced when using them. If you know the conditions ahead of time, you will have an easier time using your miles.
Enter your account information for every mileage and point earning program to which you belong into a consolidation website like Mileage Manager, Award Wallet, MilePort, Points or GoMiles. Check the Resources for links. These sites will allow you to enter information for every account and track how many miles you have, when they expire and how you could be using them.
Redeem miles for a variety of merchandise or donate them to a charity. There are many ways to use miles and points other than airfare. If you cannot or will not use your miles for travel, consider the options for spending your miles at home.
