Frequent flyer miles are offered to customers that fly often on a particular airline, such as Continental. By flying on Continental you can become a part of its frequent flyer program, which offers you miles based on the distance you fly. Another way to earn miles is to check with your bank. Some banks offer points every time you use their bank debit card to make purchases. Another way to earn points is to go to the Continental website, join online and use credit cards that offer Continental frequent flyer miles. Once you have earned several thousand miles then you will be able to use the frequent flyer miles, which will pay for a flight in full or partly, depending on the distance of the flight.
Be flexible on date and time of your trip. Continental has blackout dates and limited seating. You will not be able to use your points on blackout dates, which are typically around and on holidays. Keep your options open. You may also have to arrive at one airport but leave from another.
Determine how many of your frequent flyer miles will be used. The distance of your flight will determine how many miles will be used. For instance, traveling from Dallas to New York could cost at least 25,000 frequent flyer miles round-trip. If you do not have enough miles then you may want to consider a flight that will cost fewer miles or wait until you accumulate more miles.
Call Continental airlines to redeem your frequent flyer miles and schedule your flight. Depending on where you plan to fly will also determine which number you should call. If you are traveling within the United States or Mexico, call 800-621-7467. If you are traveling to other countries such as Europe, Asia, or the Middle East then call 800-344-1411. If you are flying on Continental's partner airline EVA Air or Qantas, then call 800-344-3333.
Go to the Continental airline website to redeem your frequent flyer miles. Click on the link to use miles for travel rewards. There will be another link under "book your reward flight online." Another page will appear to allow you to select date and destination. Then you get to choose from several selections that are available and it will show how many flyer miles it will take. Select the flight you want and the choice of economy or first class. Then submit your selection.
