US Airways Luggage Limits

US Airways charges fees for checked luggage. The airline also charges fees for overweight and oversize luggage. Understanding the airline's luggage policy can help you avoid extra fees.
  1. Carry-on Bags

    • US Airways allows passengers to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse, briefcase, laptop or diaper bag. The airline does not charge fees for carry-on bags.

    Sizes and Weights

    • Carry-on items must weigh 40 pounds or less and measure no more than 45 inches around. To avoid extra fees, checked luggage must weigh 50 pounds or less and measure no more than 61 inches around. As of October 2010, the airline charges between 50 and 100 dollars for overweight, oversize luggage in addition to standard checked luggage fees.

    Fees

    • As of October 2010, for domestic flights, US Airways charges $25 for the first checked bag, $35 for the second bag and $100 for each additional bag. Passengers flying to and from Europe pay no fee for the first checked bag, $55 for the second bag and $100 for each additional bag. Passengers flying to and from South America and the Middle East pay no fee for the first two checked bags and $100 for each additional bag.
