Guidelines to US Airway Luggage

Airline baggage rules change frequently and it is important to read both the federal regulations and airline rules before you pack for your next vacation. All luggage is subject to federal laws regarding prohibited items and US Airways places restrictions on weight and size, as of October 2010.
  1. Carry-on Bags

    • US Airways allows you to bring one carry-on bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase. The carry-on bag must measure no more than 14 x 9 x 22 inches and weigh less than 40 lbs. One item must fit in the overhead bins and the other under your seat.

    Checking Bags

    • You can check your luggage in online or at the gate. If you booked your ticket prior to October 1, 2010, there is a discount for checking your luggage online. Online check-in is available 24 hours before your flight. Bags checked at the gate cannot be checked until four hours prior to your flight.

    Checked Bag Fees

    • For flights within North America all bags are subject to fees of $25 for the first, $35 for the second and $100 for a third. For flights to Europe the first bag is free, the second is $55 and the third is $100. The first two bags are free to South America and the Middle East but the third bag is $100. Overweight bags (heavier than 50 lbs.) and additional bags will be incur further fees.
