Delta allows one carry-on and one personal item to be brought on-board. Personal items are defined as either a purse, briefcase, camera case or diaper bag. A lap-top computer counts as a carry-on item. Items such as jackets, food or drink (purchased after security check-point), child-restraint seats, or crutches are not considered a carry-on or personal item and can be brought with you.
Checked baggage must weigh 50 pounds or less with a total measurement of 62 inches or less. Additional fees apply for bags over these dimensions. Fees for first and second bags vary depending on the flight destination and rates are based on date of ticket purchase. Exceptions to this policy apply to First Class and Business Class passengers --- if you travel in these cabins, checked baggage is free of charge and up to three bags can be checked, weighing up to 70 pounds each. SkyMile Members traveling in Coach Class are also waived of checked baggage fees and may check up to two bags. Full-fare Coach Class passengers may check up to two bags each at no charge, however measurements must comply with Delta's standard baggage policy.
Up to ten bags per passenger can be checked on flights operated by Delta (defined as excess or additional baggage) and up to four bags on Delta Connection flights. Any bag weighing between 51-70 pounds is considered overweight.
