Finding the cheapest and most convenient airline fare can be a time-consuming task. Instead of searching individual airline's websites for the best fare, you can compare fares on Expedia. Expedia is an Internet travel agency that is connected to most global travel reservation databases. By searching Expedia for flight information, you'll see fares for most airlines in an easy-to-compare format.
Open your Web browser and go to Expedia.com.
Select "Flight" in the Plan Your Trip box on the left-side of the Expedia home page.
Select "Roundtrip" for the cheapest fare to your destination and back home.
Specify whether your travel dates are flexible by clicking the "My Dates are Flexible" checkbox. Click this box if you are looking for the cheapest fare and do not have to fly on a certain date. The Flexible Date option is only available for flights in the United States.
Enter your departure city in the "Leaving From" field.
Enter your arrival city in the "Going To" field.
Enter your departure date in the "Departing" field and your preferred departure time in the "Time" field.
If you selected the Flexible Date option, you'll specify the month of your departure in the "Departure Month" field.
Enter your returning date in the "Returning" field and your preferred return time in the "Time" field.
If you selected the Flexible Date option, you'll specify the number of days you plan on staying at your destination in the "Trip Length" field.
Enter the number of people in your party in the "Adults," "Seniors (65+)" and "Children (0-18)" fields.
Click "Search for Flights." After a brief wait while Expedia searches for available flights, a screen appears showing the flights and comparable fares in a chart at the top of the page. Below the chart are the details for each flight.
If you searched using the Flexible Date option, you'll see a calendar showing the cheapest fare for each day of the month.
Look at the chart to see which airline offers the best fare and flight options that meet your needs. The chart lists in columns across the top the names of the cheapest airlines. The chart contains rows showing whether the flight is "Nonstop," "1 Stop" or "2+ Stops." Use the columns and rows to compare each flight option, then click on the flight price to view details for that flight.
If you searched using Flexible Dates, click on the date and price of the depature flight that interests you. You'll be shown a calendar to select the price for your return flight. Then, you'll see the chart comparing each airline, amount of stops and fare for your selected dates.
