Southwest Airlines is a Dallas, Texas-based carrier that began in 1967 and has become the largest domestic carrier in the U.S., based on number of passengers. While Southwest boasts that it offers low airfares as a standard, there still is a way to get an even cheaper airplane ticket with the carrier.
Go to Southwest.com.
Click the "Air" link, then the "Book a Flight" link. At the left, enter your travel information, then click "Search" for all pricing options for flights.
Click on "Try our Low Fare Calendar" to the right of the calendar pages. This will highlight the lowest prices during the travel period you selected.
Select other months to see what the prices look like down the road. If you are flexible, you might be able to save a great deal by flying shortly before or after your selected dates.
Click on the calendar date when you find the price you want and click "Continue" to see flight times. Select one and click "Continue" to proceed to purchase.
Download Southwest Airlines' "Ding Desktop Application." This application lets you know when specials are going on.
