How to Park at the Luton Airport

London Luton Airport is the United Kingdom's fifth-busiest airport, with nearly 10 million passengers traveling through the airport in 2009. Whether you are traveling to the airport from the London metro area or from further afield, the last thing you want to worry about is what to do with your car. Find out your options for car parking at Luton Airport and how to use their automated parking system so you can get your trip started right.

Instructions

  1. Arrival

    • 1

Look for the signs designating each parking garage. These will be marked on the airport access road. Short-term parking signs are yellow, mid-term parking signs are green and long-term parking signs are pink.

    • 2

Pull up to the barrier at the parking garage.

    • 3

Press the ticket button and wait for your parking ticket to print. This ticket lists your entry time to the parking garage.

    • 4

Follow the lighted signs, which will direct you to any open parking spaces.

    • 5

Park your car in an empty space. For safety reasons, ensure that your doors are locked and your windows are rolled up.

    • 6

Place your parking ticket in a safe place, preferably in your wallet or purse. Do not leave your ticket in the car and do not bend the ticket.

    • 7

Follow the directional signs to the terminal. For mid- and long-term parking, follow the signs to the nearest shuttle bus stop, which will take you to the terminal. If you are in the short-term parking garage, the terminal is connected by walkways and you do not need to take the shuttle bus.

    Departure

    • 8

Find a "Pay on Foot" machine within the departure terminal.

    • 9

Insert your parking ticket into the machine and follow the on-screen instructions for payment by cash or credit/debit card. Wait for your receipt to print. The machine will then eject your ticket, which is now imprinted with your exit time.

    • 10

If you've used short-term parking, walk to the parking garage using the posted signs as a guide. For mid- and long-term parking, proceed to the shuttle bus stop. Use stop number 2 for long-term parking and stop number 3 for mid-term parking.

    • 11

Locate your car and drive out of the parking garage, following the exit signs.

    • 12

Insert your parking ticket into the machine at the exit and wait for the barrier to lift. Watch for other vehicles and carefully exit onto the Luton Airport access road.
