How to Replace an Air Horn on a Crownline

Crownline has been building boats in Illinois since 1991. Its lineup includes bow-riders, cruisers and cuddy cabins. It's common that boats come equipped with air horns to alert other boaters and swimmers to their presence. They're mounted on the front of the boat to project the sound in the direction of movement. Because the horns are installed outside and subjected to a harsh environment, they have a tendency to fail. Replacing a horn is a simple process any boat owner can do.

Remove the air hose attached to the horn by loosening its connection with a wrench. Pull the air hose out and lay it on the boat's hull.

    • 2

Loosen the two screws that fasten the horn's mounting bracket to the body of the boat. Pull the broken horn off the boat.

    • 3

Align the new horn's mounting bracket over the existing mounting holes. Secure the horn with the two screws removed from the old horn.

Push the air hose into the horn's receiver and secure it in place by tightening the nut with a wrench.
