Things to Do on a Bus Trip

Riding long distances on a bus gives you time to catch up on projects or play games with family members. Your activities are limited only by the space and the items you bring on the bus. Before your next trip, spend a few minutes planning activities to make the bus ride more enjoyable.
  1. Work Projects

    • Catch up on work projects while you travel. A laptop computer will easily fit in your travel bag and the bus ride will provide you with uninterrupted time to get ahead or complete projects.

    Window Games

    • If you have children with you, play games by looking out the window. There is no equipment for these games and they're easy to play. In the cloud game, ask your children to find shapes in the passing clouds. Or ask the kids to find a license plate from every state before the end of the bus trip.

    Read

    • Finish half-read books or magazines, or choose a new selection for the trip. Reading is a popular way to make trips seem shorter. If you experience motion sickness when you read on a moving vehicle, listen to an audio book. Many options are available at local bookstores, on the Internet and at your library.

    Craft

    • Crafts such as needlepoint, knitting, and cross-stitch are easy to transport and perform in a small space. Before you leave, fill a tote bag with your patterns, yarns, thread and needles to carry on the bus. Pack enough crafting materials to last the entire trip.
