Southwest Airlines has six car rental company partners for their Rapid Rewards program: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar Rent a Car, Hertz and Thrifty Car Rental. The availability of these car rental companies varies depending on your location.
Southwest Rapid Rewards members get 0.5 credits to their accounts when renting through these companies by asking for it at the time of rental. You can request credit for a previous rental, but to do so, you must send the rental company a copy of your rental agreement and your Rapid Rewards account number. You can contact the rental company's customer service line if you no longer have your rental agreement.
Budget and Avis both require that you take a flight with Southwest Airlines to receive credit to your Rapid Rewards program. Not all locations of rental companies participate in the Rapid Rewards program. Hertz is the only company with listed discounts for Rapid Rewards members.
The type of vehicles available for rent depend on availability and what the company has to offer. Southwest Airlines offers a chart for each company, broken down by style: Economy, Compact, Mid-Size, Full-Size, Premium, Luxury, Minivan, Convertible, Sport Utility and Full-Size Van.
