Obtain a wine import and export license. Contact your state's local office of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Fill out an application in person. All parties involved in the shipping of wine cases must be present. Meet with a department adviser so you can review all pertinent laws, rules, and regulations of shipping wine.
Sign the UPS contractual service agreement. Enter the UPS Agreement or the UPS Wine Industry Fulfillment House Agreement for approved wine shippers. Understand that UPS will not accept any shipments from shippers who have not signed and entered the agreement.
Process the wine shipment with a UPS-compatible shipping company like WorldShip or any approved third-party vendor system before proceeding to ship a case of wine.
Meet UPS packaging requirements. Invest in molded Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam, folded corrugated trays or molded fiber trays so the bottles will be secure into the center of the package. Sturdy outer boxes are required.
Request that a UPS Delivery Confirmation Adult Signature be sent with the wine package. Label the package to its origin or destination approved state. The wine case packaging will be in violation of UPS terms and agreement and will not be shipped without proper labeling or the request for a confirmation signature.
