* A completed Application for Missouri Title (Form MV-7), which you can find online or at the DOR office.
* The original title to the car, if you are the owner. If you are not the owner, you will need a properly executed power of attorney from the owner.
* A valid Missouri driver's license or state identification card.
* Proof of insurance for the car.
* Payment for the title fee, sales tax, and registration fees. The fees vary depending on the type of vehicle and the county where you live. You can find a fee schedule online or at the DOR office.
* Once you have submitted your documents and paid the fees, the DOR will issue you a title and a license plate for your car. You will need to display the license plate on the front and rear of your car and keep the title in a safe place.
If you are leasing a car, you will need to follow a slightly different process. You will need to contact the leasing company to obtain a Power of Attorney form and a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO). You will then need to take these forms to the DOR office along with the documents listed above.
