Information on RV Repairs

Repairing an RV can be as simple as replacing a broken lens on a carriage light. Complicated repairs, such as replacing a waste tank or installing a macerating pump, should be left to RV repair professionals.
  1. Repair Shops

    • Take the RV to a repair shop to have it serviced. Warranty work always should be performed by an authorized RV repair center. National RV repair chains have locations near major cities in most of the US. Local RV dealerships usually have a repair shop. For engine repairs, look for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified facilities.

    DIY

    • Do-it-yourself (DIY) repairs will save you money if they are done correctly. RV repair manuals are available for sale at major online book retailers and local bookstores. Refer to the repair manual and understand what is involved in the repair before starting. DIY engine repairs require a separate manual for the type of engine in your particular RV.

    Considerations

    • Evaluate your skill level and the types of tools available for you to use before deciding on a DIY project. Leave repairs to major systems, like the electrical or propane gas systems, to the professionals for safety reasons.
