How to Replace the Wood Behind the Siding on a Motor Home
Siding adds a genuine look to motor homes. Paint jobs can be tailored to your preferences, but the main purpose of siding is to protect the wooden or metal frame attached to the exterior siding. The wood behind the siding can get ruined from damage to the siding after accidents or damage from weather. It's not the easiest thing to repair, but it can be done.
- 3/4-inch plywood
- Nails or staples
- Staple gun
- Hammer
- Hand saw
- Silicone-based sealant
- Caulk gun

Remove the damaged siding. Gently pull the staples on the bottom of the siding and release the upper flange, which will release the piece of siding.

Cut out section of bad wood with a hand saw. Check for damage to insulation. It could be molded or covered in mildew.

Cut out the piece of wood to fit where the old one was. Attach the board to the frame, using a hammer and nails.

Fill a caulk gun with silicone-based sealant. Seal around the edges.

Hook the flange and staple or nail the siding in place, using a staple gun or a hammer.
