How to Haul a Car Behind a Motorhome

Motor homes are a common way to travel the country. Many people use their motor home for weeks or even months at a time for long road trips. Once you're parked at a destination campground, you need a more mobile way to travel.

      Prepare your vehicle for towing. Park vehicle behind the motor home and allow for 4 to 5 feet of space.

      Attach vehicle to the car tow hitch. Use a tow hitch on the motor home for towing a car. A car tow hitch mounts to the front bumper and frame of the car. It utilizes a V shape with a coupler on the end.

      Attach the car tow hitch to motor home. Using the coupler on the car tow hitch, attach to the 2-inch ball on the motor home. Attach safety chains to the motor home in an X pattern.

      Put the towed vehicle's transmission in neutral. Use gear selector to select the N or neutral position to allow wheels to turn freely.
