Find the source of the leak right away and temporarily fix it using aluminum sealant for smaller leak sources or cardboard wrapped in aluminum for larger sources.
Clean up any water inside the motor home and throw away any ruined possessions. Clean the area around the source of the leak with a wash rag.
Fix the cause of the leak permanently. For example, if a broken window is allowing water inside the motor home, replace it. If the leak comes from a problem with the roof, apply RV putty or another permanent material.
Apply a sealant at the leak source. The type of sealant varies based on where the leak came from. For doors, windows and roofs, RV putty acts as a sealant. For an air conditioner, a gasket applied to the unit is the sealant.
Apply caulk around the leak source. Use a caulking gun to accurately apply the material.
Put on a coating over the sealant and coating for further protection. Often a coating is just a layer of paint, either clear or the color of the area damaged. Use a paint made for the material being coated.
