Things Used to Move Machines

Moving machines can be a stressful task. These items, generally expensive and large in size, require special machinery to assist with moving. Careful planning and preparation are needed when moving any type of machinery so all parts are kept in proper working order and productivity is not interrupted for a long period of time.
  1. Hand Trucks

    • For smaller machines such as copiers, computers and fax machines, a hand truck is required. Hand trucks are available for rent or purchase from moving companies such as U-Haul and can carry a maximum of 600 pounds per load. They are designed with a large base and carry strap. The cart is designed with 10-inch heavy pneumatic tires. In addition to a basic hand truck, a dual application can be converted to a four-wheel cart simple by adjusting the handle according to the directions. The weight limit once converted is 700 pounds.

    Floor Cranes

    • Hydraulic floor cranes are used to move heavy machinery up to 6,000 pounds. These portable cranes are used by many companies as a safer, smaller and cheaper alternatives for moving heavy equipment. The floor cranes are small enough to fit through most doors and are easy to maneuver. There are two types of floor cranes, manual push cranes or full power hydraulic cranes.

    Truck Crane

    • Truck cranes are designed to carry up to 6,000 pounds and can be mounted in the back of a truck. Truck cranes provide 360 degrees rotation once installed in the back of a truck. This hydraulic crane lifts machinery using a hand pump motion. This type of crane is useful when moving machinery from a truck to the ground. The most common use for this crane is moving welding machines and large electrical motors.
