The Glendive Short Pine Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area provides driving space for motorized vehicles such as jeeps and ATVs. Trails wind through 2,240 acres of federal land accessible from Dawson County Road 335. All jeeps must have license plates and be street legal to use the area. Drivers and passengers must wear helmets. Trails are managed by the Miles City Field office of the Bureau of Land Management.

Shepherd Ah Nei Recreation Area includes 50 miles of off-road trails on 1,062 acres of land. Another 4,000 acres of the area are limited only to hikers and mountain bikers. The OHV portion of the area is open for riding from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. Be sure to check with the Billings Field Office before heading out as the area is subject to closure because of wet conditions or fire danger.

Kootenai National Forest extends from the northwest corner of Montana into Idaho encompassing over 2 million acres of mountains and forests. Off-highway vehicle riding is permitted on designated trails. Be sure to avoid wilderness areas, where motorized vehicles are not permitted.
