Find out if the policy to cancel electronic tickets is different from the policy to cancel tickets purchased through a vendor or over the phone.
Read the terms and conditions agreement thoroughly to see what the cancellation policy is for your specific electronic ticket. Some businesses, like Amtrak, have customers create a log-in name and password to access ticket information on the Internet. Find out if your ticket provider has this service and see if you can cancel the electronic ticket through this portal.
Consider the time span from when you purchased the electronic ticket to when you want to cancel it. As with Delta Airlines, you may be able to cancel the ticket fee-free within a certain time frame (for Delta, it's a day). Otherwise, you may still be able to cancel the ticket, but encounter fees doing so.
Contact the business you bought your electronic ticket from. You may be able to transfer your ticket to another date. Ticket Master gives their customers 72 hours to cancel tickets and still get a full refund. Again, your success will depend on the policy of the individual business.
