How to Obtain a Street Address From Coordinates

The process of obtaining a street address from latitude and longitude coordinates is known as reverse geocoding. GPS devices use standard geocoding by taking street addresses and converting them to coordinates in order to direct individuals to their destinations. But while these devices aren't capable of reverse geocoding, there are web programs that can provide you with an address based on global coordinates.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the TravelGIS website, which provides geocoding for 24 countries throughout the world including the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Denmark. A full list of supported countries can be found on the geocoding web page.

    • 2

Complete the verification field at the top of the page by entering the numeric code exactly as it appears.

    • 3

Enter the latitude and longitude coordinates in the corresponding fields and click the "Reverse Geocode" button.

    • 4

View the results of your search at the top of the page. Depending on the specificity of the coordinates, more than one address may appear in the results field.
