Pack lightly. By minimizing space taken up by luggage, you'll maximize space for relaxation and comfort.
Plan breaks for food and restroom stops into your driving plan. Try to stop every 3-4 hours.
Stretch. When out of the car, stretch your arms, legs, neck and back, which can become cramped from remaining in the same position for too long.
Bring items that will make rest and sleep comfortable. A favorite pillow and blanket can make snoozing on the road more enjoyable.
Switch places. If traveling with more than one person, trade driving responsibility to give each other a break.
Listen to soothing sounds. Pack CDs that will keep you entertained, or tune into radio stations that you enjoy.
Stay active. If traveling with another person, talk or play games. Bring reading material, handheld games, or any other items that will keep you busy.
