The familiar cartoon bear welcomes families to this playful campground in Tabor City near the South Carolina border. Jellystone has a water slide, a splash park and a lap pool with water volleyball. The campground has tent and RV sites plus cabins and yurts.
Hagan-Stone Park offers 106 campsites for tents and RVs and has such amenities as fishing ponds, playgrounds and hiking and biking trails. The pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and there is an adjacent kiddie pool. Note that in summer these facilities are part of the Camp Joy day camp; public-use hours may vary according to the camp's schedule.
Morrow Mountain State Park is six miles east of Ablemarle in Stanly County. Artifacts found in the area indicate that Native Americans inhabited the region 10,000 years before the first European settlers arrived. Families are welcome to stay the night in one of 106 campsites for tents and RVs. The swimming facilities are open from June through Labor Day and are accessible to those with disabilities; there is a separate kid's pool.
KOA, or Kampgrounds of America, are scattered across the nation to provide family-friendly facilities for RV and tent campers. On the North Carolina Outer Banks, the Cape Hatteras KOA in Rodanthe offers an oceanfront campground for a little fun in the surf. Hunt for seashells over miles of shoreline or cross the sand dune to dip your feet in the Atlantic. The campground has two outdoor pools, one of which has a large water slide, plus a hot tub.
This KOA site is bordered on one side by the Raven Fork River and the campground rents inner tubes for rafting trips. RV campsites can accommodate big rigs, and cabins and lodges are also available. From campfires to hayrides, this KOA offers several fun activities for kids of all ages, even family-friendly films under the stars. An outdoor pool has a tall, twisting water slide. Indoor pools and hot tubs are also available.
