One of the great natural wonders of the world, Yosemite National Park in the northeastern part of the state was one of the first national parks. The park, which is spread out over 1,200 square miles, is famous for its waterfalls, but it also has valleys, large meadows, ancient sequoia trees and large tracts of wilderness. Yosemite has 13 different campgrounds, which range in their amenities. An example is the Upper Pines campground. Open throughout the year, Upper Pines is one of the largest in the park with 238 sites and comes with tap water and restrooms. It can handle RVs up to 35 feet. Most of the campgrounds do not have showers and none have hook-ups for RVs. Some of the campgrounds are also only open on a seasonal basis.
